Peaslake Players Defined

Peaslake Players have been in existence for more than 60 years, since The Six Wives of Calais was performed in 1948. As a local amateur dramatic society we aim to provide anyone with an interest in the stage with a platform to develop their talents and realise their theatrical ideas.

The Society stages a wide range of productions year to year, from drama to musicals, comedy, tragedy, pantomime and old time music hall. We have also performed plays that have never before graced the stage and some of our members have written plays and cabarets.

Productions are staged at the Memorial Hall in Peaslake or at the Electric Theatre, Guildford, and are usually performed in the Spring and Autumn. A third production, usually a musical or pantomime, may be performed in January, often by the Young Peaslake Players (YOPPS).

As well as staging productions, the Society also has a social side. Regular evening events are often organised, such as quizzes, skittles and supper, and trips to local theatres. Future plans include a trip to the Globe Theatre.

Periodic newsletters keep members updated on details of productions, social events, local courses and the activities of members. Subscriptions are £10 for families, £6 for single adults and £3 for those under the age of 18.

If you have ever wanted to act in or direct a play or be part of the design, backstage, or front of house crew, Peaslake Players can provide an outlet for your talents and ideas. New members are very welcome. If you would like to become a member or are interested in finding out more about the Society, contact Jenny Taylor on 01483 202317.
